Design and Available Colours

The iPhone 18 Pro models use an aluminium unibody design with colour-matched glass on the back. Apple has moved away from the titanium construction used on some earlier Pro models, focusing instead on thermal performance and structural durability.

The phones have an IP68 water- and dust-resistance rating. Under controlled laboratory conditions, they can withstand immersion in fresh water at a maximum depth of six metres for up to 30 minutes. Water resistance may decrease with normal wear and should not be treated as permanent.

6.3-Inch vs 6.9-Inch Display

The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max uses a larger 6.9-inch display.

A20 Pro Performance

Both phones are powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip. It includes a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU and dual 16-core Neural Engine.

The A20 Pro uses a new chip-package design inspired by Apple’s M-series processors. The memory is positioned closer to the main silicon to improve communication and thermal efficiency.

Apple says the new GPU offers up to 40 percent faster performance than the iPhone 17 Pro. Hardware-accelerated ray tracing supports more realistic lighting, shadows and reflections in compatible games.

The dual Neural Engine provides additional processing power for on-device artificial intelligence. Apple also claims 50 percent more memory bandwidth, helping the phone run larger AI models and demanding creative applications.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max offer the same processor, so buyers do not need to purchase the larger phone to receive better computing performance.

Next-Generation Vapour Chamber

Apple has redesigned the internal cooling system with a larger vapour chamber. The company says it has three times the surface area of the previous system.

The vapour chamber transfers heat away from the A20 Pro chip and distributes it across a wider area. Better heat management helps the phone maintain its performance during gaming, video editing and AI workloads instead of slowing down because of high temperatures.

Apple claims up to 40 percent better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro. Actual results will depend on ambient temperature, applications and how the device is used.

Triple 48MP Camera System

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max have the same triple-camera system. All three rear cameras use 48-megapixel sensors:

Unlike some previous generations, Apple has not limited the best zoom camera to the Pro Max. Buyers of the smaller iPhone 18 Pro receive the same camera hardware.

Variable-Aperture Main Camera

The front camera supports autofocus, Night mode, ProRAW, Smart HDR 5 and 4K Dolby Vision video at up to 60 frames per second.

Dual Capture allows the front and rear cameras to record simultaneously. This can be useful for reactions, travel videos, interviews and social-media content.

Professional Video Features

The required high-power adapters and MagSafe charger are sold separately. Actual charging times can vary based on temperature, battery condition and whether the phone is being used while charging.

Apple Intelligence and Siri AI

The A20 Pro’s Neural Engine supports Apple Intelligence features throughout iOS 27. These include writing assistance, image editing, content understanding and a new version of Siri.
