How to Watch Google I/O 2026

Google I/O 2026 is on the horizon, and if you're eager to catch Google's latest innovations as they unfold, you've come to the right place. From groundbreaking software to whispers of new hardware, I/O is Google's stage for revealing what they've been cooking up. Want to know when and where to tune in live? We’ve got you covered.

What is Google I/O?

Think of Google I/O as Google's annual tech party for developers, and by extension, for anyone who loves Google products. It's where the tech giant pulls back the curtain on its biggest software advancements, new features for existing platforms, and occasionally, a surprise hardware reveal or two. It’s a deep dive into the future of Android, AI, and everything in between.

When and What Time is Google I/O 2026?

Mark your calendars, because Google I/O 2026 runs May 19 through May 20. While it's a two-day developer conference packed with sessions and workshops, most of us are really here for the main event: the keynote. That kicks off on May 19 at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET). If you’re like us, you’ll want to grab your favorite beverage and settle in for that start time.

What Will Be Announced at Google I/O 2026?

Predicting Google I/O announcements is always a fun guessing game, and this year, Google's playing its cards extra close. Still, we can make some educated guesses:

  • Android's Future (Mostly): While Android 17 is on the horizon, Google actually unveiled a ton of Android news last week at "The Android Show: I/O Edition." Think Gemini Intelligence, the new Googlebooks (a Chromebook successor?), and wider AirDrop support for Android phones. Could we see more? Perhaps an update on Android XR, their smart glasses platform, which was hinted at last year.
  • All Things AI: Prepare for an AI avalanche! Google consistently rolls out new AI features, from "Thinking levels" in Gemini to agentic bots browsing Chrome for you. I/O 2026 will undoubtedly be packed with even more AI-powered innovations – perhaps more than some of us can keep up with!
  • Hardware Surprises? I/O is primarily a software-focused event. While the Pixel 10a dropped in February, don't hold your breath for major new hardware reveals here. It's always possible, but the spotlight will almost certainly be on software and developer tools.
